Hicks house is one of Albury’s finest homes, originally built in the early 1900’s and now on the Heritage listed register, careful design and execution of this build was crucial. J Wilkinson Constructions was the successful tender to re-create this amazing home in 2015. The use of products including sand cast lacework, pressed tin ceiling linings, huge iron bark sections sourced for the Colonade, decorative plaster arches, brick corbelling, restoration of brass window and door hardware, re-using original bricks where possible including the kitchen splash back and blending the old into new took hours of meticulous craftsmanship.
3 metre high ceilings were continued throughout with stepped bulkheads in the main living area and large solid oak doors were extensively used throughout.

Project Description

Location:   Fellow street, Albury NSW 2640

Fellowes house is situated high on a hillside in Albury and required a complete overhaul and interior renovation, along with some major additions to the front and rear and an inground pool. Solid brick internal and external walls and a granite seam encountered during excavation of the pool were just some of the challenges faced.
Rock breaker excavators, followed by air compressed jack hammers and finally mild explosives were used to remove the granite for the pool.
The original Murray pine floors were finished in a lime wash, Corian benchtops fitted to all new cabinetry and with new double glazed windows throughout.., this home is now thoroughly enjoyed by its owners.
Modwood decks finished around the pool area and a Corten steel screen make this area the best place to be on a hot summers day. Knotwood aluminium slatting to the front facade create a sleek and maintenance free streetscape.
